After meeting Deveren and the team at MOJOE, Rene was impressed.
“Deveren was the first person to sit down and talk to me and be painfully honest,” she remembered. “He educated me on the platforms that he thought we needed—WooCommerce and WordPress—and reinforced the commitment it would take to get it set upright.”
But he didn’t stop there. He also connected her to a local manufacturer’s grant through South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership that helps South Carolina manufacturers grow their businesses. The grant ended up helping Rene pay for the project—including added Search Engine Optimization to help her grow.
To begin with, the MOJOE team set out to create a brand—something childlike and fun and ended up with the Babyzillas logo and style. From there, they began to build out the e-commerce site, which allowed Rene to sell online easily, converting online traffic to real sales. After four months, the project was done, and Rene was up and running.
“I think that Deveren and his team do a great job,” Rene said. “I would definitely use them again for another project, especially knowing what I know now.”
Babyzillas is an online children’s boutique, focused on offering 100 percent-certified organic clothing for children with eczema or other skin conditions. Founded by Rene Freeman in 2020, the business is in the early stages of growth as it connects with parents across the world who are looking for alternatives in infant and children’s clothing and accessories.
When she initially started, Rene built her site in GoDaddy. It wasn’t long, however, before she realized she was on the wrong platform and did a quick Google search to find developers in her area. It was then that she found MOJOE, and reached out for help.
“I wanted a logo and a website that I could manage on my own,” Rene said. “But I needed it to not be so complicated that I would get frustrated.”
