Logos tell a story about a company and can make a company memorable with the correct design. Logos are not just colors, fonts, slogans and designs they can leave a lasting impression and are the introduction to a brand. In order for a logo to achieve an un-forgettable image the logo must be researched, referenced, sketched, and have revisions. Remember, Keep it Simple!
Here are 10 of the best logo tips and tricks that I have found make logo development a success.
.) A logo should be memorable you can accomplish this by following some basic rules of design. Make sure that your logo looks good with and without color, it is easily identifiable, the logo needs to be able to scale from one size to another, be mindful of white space and placement of objects within the logo. Make sure your logo is designed in vector program; such as, Abobe Illustrator.
.) Research the audience that will be viewing the logo. Find out what/who the audience is and be sure to get as much information about the audience as you can.
.) Don’t be afraid to check-out your competition or look at other logos to get ideas. Here is a list of some great logo sites so you can get ideas and inspiration:

.) Make sure to create several variations of the design so you can see the possibilities.
.) Make sure you think about the color that will be used for the logo. Colors can be warm and inviting, they can invoke psychological responses.
.) Don’t be afraid to only have the name of your company be your logo. Again, remember less can be MORE. Use of the correct font, spacing, and style can make a logo simple but powerful.
.) Be sure not to over complicate your logo with extraneous information, make sure the logo can stand on its own with or without your slogan. The logo should impart your brand whether the slogan is there or not.
.) Make sure your logo is timeless. Don’t use fonts or imagery that is only relative in today’s culture be sure to think about your logo for the future. Don’t follow current trends.
.) Once your logo is created share it with your friends, colleges and business associates. Get their feedback on the logo. Find out what makes the logo memorable?, and if not ask them what does not make it memorable? Ask questions.
.) This is very important! Especially for the non-graphic artist probably the most important. Don’t use photos for your logo. Photos are not vector based files, Photos also don’t scale, have no branding value and are hard to adapt for any use.
