SEO is not easy. It’s like a game of cat and mouse where you have to play by the rules but also try your best to cheat at the same time. A lot of people get frustrated when they see themselves going nowhere with their website, but that can all change if you’re willing to learn, work hard, and adjust accordingly as Google changes its algorithm.
Here are some of the best tips and tricks to help you get ahead in the world of SEO.

1. Keyword Density

Keyword density is the percentage of times that you use a specific word or phrase compared to the rest of your piece. It used to be a big deal, but today it’s pretty much useless because Google has figured out how to filter out pieces that are too focused on a particular keyword. If you use your keyword or phrase in your title, make sure it shows up within the first 5 words because that will help your article rank higher. You should also try to pepper some of your keywords in the first paragraph.

2. Title Tag

Like keyword density, title tags have lost a lot of their punch, but you still need to use them. Google is able to see words if they are in your title tag and if those words aren’t on the page itself, Google will know that the page isn’t relevant and won’t show it in search results. Make sure you use your primary keyword as well as other keywords that are relevant to your piece of content.

3. Content Words

This is where keyword density and title tags are still relevant. Google can only tell what your page is about if your keywords are on the page itself. If your title tag says one thing and then the content on your page isn’t relevant, Google will probably ignore it since it won’t accurately describe what the page is about.

4. HTML Code

Using certain HTML tags helps you to essentially tell Google that you want something to show up in search results and it’s vital that you use these when applicable. For example, if you want a certain tag to show up on the page, then it’s practically required that you include it within the HTML code. It’s just like writing a sentence. I can’t tell what that sentence means unless I know what you’ve written in the beginning of it. Likewise, if I want to see an image or paragraph on my page, I need to know that that image or paragraph is there if I’m going to see it in Google searches.

5. Meta Data

Metadata is another important HTML code to include in your pages. Google uses it to determine if the page is relevant and how you want it to be displayed in search results. Make sure that your metadata includes an image of a person as well as a title, description, keyword phrase, and other information that will help spread the word about your page.

6. Google Authorship

This is one of the most important Google tips to remember when you are writing articles online or elsewhere. Google wants to get as many people to read as many articles as possible. If your article has a well-written title, then it’s more likely that more people will read it and be able to pass on its information. The only problem is that if you’re going to use Google Authorship, you need to write a well-written page.

7. Quality and Quantity

I’ve already told you that Google wants to cater to as many people as possible and in order to do that, it needs to ensure that information on all of its pages is quality. If multiple sites talk about one topic, then Google will know that there are a lot of people searching for information on that particular topic. It’ll also take notice if there are a few sites talking about it or if it’s all being said by one website.

8. Webmaster Tools

This is another Google tool that you should use to promote your website and make it easier for Google to find. It also helps them to make sure that your website is up to their standards and it can also help you to better understand how users interact with your website.

9. Brand Name

I’ve already talked about how Google uses people to read articles and I’ve also talked about how it uses the words on those articles in order to determine what the page is about. To make sure you’re going to get a higher ranking, try using your brand name throughout your articles. If your brand is well established, then Google knows that it’s a reputable site and will rank you higher as well. So one thing to consider is do you need better branding?

10. Cross-Promote

Using cross-promotion is the way to go if you want to reach more people with your SEO and brand name. If you have other articles that are written by different authors, then you can promote them through advertisements on your website. If you have several articles that are all relevant to each other, then Google will know that there is a big buzz about one topic and will show it in the search results since there will be many links coming from other sites talking about it.

Overall, SEO is about adjusting and trying new things with your website. You have to be willing to change what you’re doing in order to make sure that you’re on the cutting edge of SEO techniques. And it’s not that hard to put these techniques into practice. Just make sure you’re learning new things at the same time. Who knows, you could be the next big thing!
